Wash and soak basmati rice aside
cut vegetables like carrot, beans (both diced) and peas
heat a mixture of oil and ghee (equal proportion) in a saucepan...
add crushed whole garam masala (cardamon, clove and cinnamon),
whole jeera and bay leaf...then add sliced onion and saute for a
while until the onion are soft...then add the vegetables..add a little
salt and black pepper...cook for about 3-4 mins and add the rice...
make sure to drain all the water of the rice thoroughly....in the mean
while in a separate container heat water--the amt of water will be a
little less than double the rice..you don't have to boil it...just heat
it more than Luke warm...add the hot water to the rice...simmer and
add salt and sugar and taste the water...cover the lid of the saucepan
and cook on medium flame until rice is cooked...
it should take about 20-25 minutes.
